Ergoworks top tips to avoid injuries while using a computer

Here are our Top 10 tips to help you set up your workstation correctly:

1. Adjust the height of your chair so your arms are comfortably positioned on the desk and your shoulders are relaxed

2. Ensure your feet are supported either by the floor or a footstool

3. The lumbar support on the chair should be positioned in the small part of your back

4. Ensure your monitor is arms distance away and you are looking roughly into the top 1/3rd of the screen

5. The keyboard should be positioned directly in front of you

6. The mouse directly next to the keyboard

7. The telephone needs to be on the opposite side to the mouse

8. Stretch and have a rest break at least every hour – we are not designed to
sit, so make sure you get up and go for a walk

9. Eye Exercises – we forget that our eyes have muscles and also need to be
stretched. Practice the “Rule of 20” – every 20 minutes, look into the distance
approximately 20 metres and hold for 20 seconds

10. Posture and movement are the key – you can have the best equipment in the
world, but if you are not sitting properly and moving throughout the day you
will increase your risk of injury

Remember pain is not normal, so if you are feeling any discomfort while at
your workstation then make sure you are seeking the right advice
